Do I need to be an experienced walker?

No. All that I ask is you have the appropriate kit and feel confident that you meet the fitness requirements for the walk chosen.

Am I fit enough?

Judging fitness and difficulty is always a tough one as it is subjective, however my walks are designed to be more inclusive for a wider range of fitness levels. If you are comfortable walking for a few hours (with rest stops), are capable of walking up and down steps and across uneven ground then our walks should be accessible for you.

How fast do we walk?

This is a common concern – that a professional walking guide will set off like Mo Farah leaving you puffing and cursing in their wake. Don’t worry, this is simply not the case! Each walk is taken at an appropriate pace for the group. We are here to enjoy the experience, take in the surroundings and engage in interesting conversation. It is not a race, the aim is to go at a leisurely pace, with regular breaks and make sure we are all enjoying, not enduring!

What is included?

Your Lake District walking guide for the day is included. I do not currently offer any “package” type walking trips, meaning all travel, parking, kit, food and drink is to be provided yourself.

How big are the groups?

Depending on the walk, group walk sizes are set at a maximum of between 6 and 10. If you would like to have me exclusively, please get in touch and this can be discussed.

What happens if the weather is bad?

We get wet! 😉 Changing weather is part of the UK, and in particular the Lake District. After all, there wouldn’t be lakes without the rain! In extreme weather scenarios where it is considered dangerous, walks will be cancelled. For more detail on this scenario please see our T&Cs. Otherwise, we don the waterproofs and carry on regardless. At least in the rain the waterfalls are more impressive!

Are children allowed?

Accompanied children over the age of 10 are welcome so long as they can meet the required fitness for the walk. Children remain the sole responsibility of the parent or guardian and not of your guide.

What kit do I need?
